Experts say child support reduction for Tyga unlikely

New York fans of rapper Tyga or entertainer Blac Chyna may be familiar with the couple’s tumultuous breakup. Some sources claim that with the news of Blac Chyna’s engagement to Rob Kardashian, Tyga may try to get the amount he pays in child support reduced.

However, experts say that neither this nor a seven-figure reality show deal for Chyna would change what Tyga owes in child support. Furthermore, other sources say that rumors of his efforts to reduce the amount may be untrue. Tyga has been vocal about his intentions to fulfill his responsibilities to their son.

It is no secret that Tyga has had financial problems. Previous landlords have sued him, and he owes $70,000 to one and $80,000 to another in interest and back rent. He also borrowed almost half a million dollars to purchase luxury vehicles that have been repossessed. However, rumors that he owes another ex-girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, $2 million have been denied by Jenner.

Despite what is happening in Tyga’s case, there are situations in which a parent paying for child support can petition for a decrease in the amount paid. For example, if parental income drops, that parent might be able to get a child support modification. However, until that modification is approved, the parent will continue owing the same amount. If the parent paying child support has a significant increase in income, the other parent can also ask for a modification seeking more support. Parents who are divorcing and who are concerned about paying or receiving child support may want to speak to an attorney about the issue.
